Vanderbilt University announces changes to traffic on and around Children’s Way

The changes affect both vehicular and pedestrian traffic

As part of Vanderbilt University’s Central Utilities Initiative (CUI) project in the Frist Athletics Neighborhood, the vehicular and pedestrian routes in the area are changing.  

VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

  • 25th Avenue South between Children’s Way and Blakemore will open on July 1.
  • Children’s Way will be completely open between Natchez Trace and 24th Avenue South.
  • The 25th Avenue South entrance to the West Garage will remain closed. Commuters can access the West Garage using 24th Avenue South and Children’s Way entrances.
  • On July 9 and 10 a portion of Children’s Way, between 25th Avenue South and Natchez Trace, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flaggers will be onsite to assist with traffic.
    • During this work commuters will be able to access the West Garage by turning right onto Children’s Way from 25th Avenue South, left onto Children’s Way from 24th Avenue South and via the 24th Avenue South entrance.

PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC

  • The 25th Avenue South sidewalk between Blakemore Avenue and Children’s Way will fully open on July 1.
  • The sidewalk along Children’s Way between Natchez Trace and 24th Avenue South will be open.
  • Some sidewalks in the area still have alternative routes, please follow the directional signage.
  • On July 9 and 10 a portion of Children’s Way, between 25th Avenue South and Natchez Trace, will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm. A temporary sidewalk will be in place for pedestrian traffic.
