The annual VUMC Health Plus-sponsored pumpkin-carving contest was held on the VUH Plaza at the final Farmers’ Market of the year on Oct. 31. The entries were on display, and market-goers could vote on the winners in the categories. Votes were also accepted from the @wellvanderbilt Instagram page.
Twenty-three departments entered, and more than 1,000 votes were cast.
In a letter to contest entrants, Blake Hampton, program manager at Health Plus, said, “We could not have done it without you all and your hard work.”
She added: “I cannot even sum up all the compliments you received from market-goers on your displays.”
This year the categories and winners:
- “Life in the Lab”– Best pumpkin related to work or research at VUMC. Winner: Ob/Gyn
- “Timeless Traditions”– Best classic Halloween theme. Winner: Neurology
- “Haunted Designs”– Best spooky pumpkin. Winner: Radiopharmacy
- “Laughter is the Best Medicine”– Best funny pumpkin. Winner: 7 South Dialysis and Apheresis
- “Fantasy Realm”– Best fantasy creature. Winner: Hematology and Oncology
- “VUMC 2024 Crowd Favorite”– Best overall display. Winner: Music Therapy
