Deans’ Lecture Series presents ‘Dr. Mildred Stahlman: A Global Visionary in Neonatology from Vanderbilt,’ Nov. 20

The Simpson Lecture, a part of the Deans’ Lecture Series at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, will be held Nov. 20 at noon in 208 Light Hall 208, and will highlight the life and legacy of Dr. Mildred Stahlman, the Vanderbilt neonatology pioneer who died last year at 101.

Speakers at the event will be Stahlman biographer Corey Reese and Meg Rush, MD, President of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and a former fellow of Dr. Stahlman’s.

The lecture is presented in partnership with the Society for the History of Medicine and Surgery is entitled “Dr. Mildred Stahlman: A Global Visionary in Neonatology from Vanderbilt.” 

Reese is a writer and editor with experience in health care and education, and she has published biographies about other notable neonatologists, including Dr. Paul Swyer, Dr. William Oh, Dr. Fred Battaglia, and Dr. Jack Widness.
