Junior faculty are being recruited to the Vanderbilt Clinical Oncology Research Career Development Program (VCORCDP) K12 grant for July 2026. This is a 1-year guaranteed career development program for junior physician faculty who are interested in and are conducting oncology research including basic, translational, clinical, and population science. Dependent on funding, a 2nd year may be added. A 75% commitment to research is required for medical physician scientists and 50% for surgical scientists. Please share with junior faculty in your division or department who may be interested.

Eligibility
- Junior faculty with an MD or MD/PhD, or equivalent degree who wish to conduct a cancer-related basic, translational, clinical or population science
- Applicants must have identified a faculty mentor with an established extramurally funded research program who will work closely to facilitate their career development in cancer research. Faculty mentors who are not members of the training faculty will need to be approved.
Application Materials
- Biosketch of the applicant and the mentor in the NIH PHS 398 form
- Letter of support from the research mentor(s) outlining the plan for mentoring and timeline to achieve goals
- 3-5 page research proposal
- 1-2 page statement on the applicant’s career goals indicating his/her/their career goals and commitment to a career in cancer research
- Letter from the department chair or division director supporting the applicant’s proposal and the research effort
