Daniel Fabbri, PhD, associate professor of Biomedical Informatics and holder of the DBMI Directorship in Informatics Innovation at Vanderbilt Health, is among two recipients of 2025 Innovator of the Year awards from the Brock Family Center for Applied Innovation.

In a March 24 lecture sponsored by the center, Fabbri spoke about innovation and his long-standing entrepreneurial activities, including his current commercial project, Brim Analytics, an artificial intelligence-guided platform for extracting and organizing critical information from clinical notes and reports in medical records. Manual patient chart abstraction today consumes significant resources; Brim helps teams speed otherwise laborious tasks such as determining patient eligibility for procedures and clinical trials.

The other Brock Family Center 2025 Innovator of the Year is Michael Golinko, MD, associate professor of Plastic Surgery and founder and CEO of ImageAssist, a clinical photography system. Golinko, who holds the Delta Dental of Tennessee’s Smile180 Foundation Directorship, was celebrated with a campus lecture in January.

The Brock Family Center was established at Vanderbilt Health in 2022 with a $10 million gift from the Brock family, including John F. Brock III, his wife, Mary, and their three adult children.
