The Vanderbilt Farmers’ Market returns to campus Thursday, June 4, and will be held every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. through Oct. 29.
Because of the ongoing restoration work on the Medical Center plaza, where the market has been held the past few years, it will be relocating to the curved section of Medical Center Drive adjacent to Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital, between Children’s Way and Blakemore Avenue, steps away from the intersection of Blakemore Avenue and 21st Avenue South.
“We are excited to welcome returning and new vendors through this partnership with the Nashville Farmers’ Market,” said Melinda Mahoney, activities coordinator (health educator) for Health Plus, the Vanderbilt staff and faculty wellness program. “Consuming fruits and vegetables is an important part of good nutrition, and the Vanderbilt Farmers’ Market offers a convenient option for faculty and staff to get fresh local produce.”
Mahoney, who is a registered dietitian, also notes that Health Plus also offers nutrition education and skill building to help faculty and staff build a foundation for healthy eating.
The first 100 people to stop by the Health Plus station at the Farmers’ Market on June 4 will receive a reusable grocery bag.
