Joseph Gigante, MD, professor of General Pediatrics, recently began his two-year term as president of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) after serving as president-elect.
Gigante has been a member of COMSEP for 19 years and has served on the organization’s executive committee for the past four years.
“It is an honor to have been elected as president,” Gigante said. “COMSEP members represent the very best pediatric medical educators. They have developed an international standard of high-quality education for medical students in pediatrics as well as support and resources to enable every member to thrive as educators. I feel privileged to lead this prestigious education organization.”
As president, Gigante will lead the organization through the planning of the group’s annual meeting, collaborating with other pediatric medical education organizations and implementing a revised pediatrics clerkship curriculum that emphasizes outcomes such as milestones, competencies and professional activities.
COMSEP is an international community of educators who are passionate about advancing the art and science of medical student education in pediatrics.
