Children’s Miracle Network events raise $1.3 million
The Children's Miracle Network's Radiothon and Telethon benefiting the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt raised $1.34 million this year.
The event, which took place May 31, includes $147,170 from the Radiothon held at Vanderbilt March 5-7. The telethon was held at NewsChannel 5 with on-air personalities as hosts, and featured inspiring stories and interviews with patients, families, faculty and staff. This is the 25th anniversary of NewsChannel 5 broadcasting the event.
“It is a true team effort that contributes to the success of the Children's Miracle Network Telethon on so many levels. NewsChannel 5's commitment and passion continues to be at soaring levels,” said Lisa Dill, director of Children's Miracle Network for Children's Hospital.
“This event is a huge celebration bringing together the NewsChannel 5 team, Children's Miracle Network sponsors, volunteers, Children's Hospital staff and families. We are all here for one reason, to make a difference in the lives of our patients and families who are treated at Children's Hospital.”
The funds raised go toward The Children's Fund, a major source of funding for hundreds of specialty programs run through Children's Hospital, and will support equipment, research and education.
Children's Hospital is one of the 22 founding hospitals of the CMN, which was formed in 1982 and is the only national fundraising effort that pledges 100 percent of all locally raised money goes to local member hospitals.
