Childhood obesity focus of conference
The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) taskforce on pediatric obesity will present “A National Forum on Pediatric Obesity: Developing Unique Partnerships to Halt the Epidemic,” at Vanderbilt's Langford Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The conference will review causes of pediatric obesity, including recent research into the crisis and the responsibilities of media for children's health.
Speakers will examine government's role in responding to recent obesity recommendations from the Institute of Medicine, as well as discuss how to create partnerships between policymakers, food and beverage companies and scientists to decrease pediatric obesity.
