Neal Patel, M.D,. a pediatric critical care specialist at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, received a $50,000 grant and commendation from the Society of Critical Care Medicine at their annual meeting in Orlando. Patel said the award was granted based on the efforts of a team of pediatric pharmacists and informatic specialists in developing a computerized prescription program. The team designed an innovative enhancement to the WizOrder system to help doctors make better decisions when prescribing medications for infants and children. This grant will allow the advanced prescription program to be studied in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
