Conference to explore HIV/AIDS cure search
Will a cure for HIV/AIDS ever be found?
Vanderbilt University experts and others will discuss that question during a free community forum in Nashville on Tuesday, March 20.
“The C Word: the Search for a Cure for HIV/AIDS” will begin at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express, 920 Broadway. Dinner will be provided.
Speakers include:
• Stephen Raffanti, M.D., MPH, associate professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt, and founder and chief medical officer of the Nashville-based Comprehensive Care Center, one of the nation’s largest outpatient HIV/AIDS treatment facilities;
• Harry Taylor, Ph.D., research instructor in Medicine at Vanderbilt;
• Mark Hubbard, educational liaison, Tennessee Association of People With AIDS; and
• Steven Deeks, M.D., professor of Medicine in Residence at the University of California, San Francisco.
The event is sponsored by the Vanderbilt HIV Vaccine Program, Nashville Pharmacy Services and Janssen Therapeutics.
