Clinical informatics program named HIMSS Approved Education Partner

Vanderbilt’s Master of Science in Applied Clinical Informatics program (MSACI) was recently named an Approved Education Partner (AEP) by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Vanderbilt’s Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) and the School of Nursing also received HIMSS AEP approval.

Special ceremonies celebrate students who graduated last year

On Sunday, May 2, the Class of 2020 of Vanderbilt University Schools of Medicine and Nursing and the Graduate School held in-person commencement ceremonies for students earning degrees. While the classes participated in virtual ceremonies last year, many opted to return to campus to celebrate with friends, family and faculty.

Scott Lee, MD, PhD, MPA, MPhil, assistant professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has received the Kenneth J. Arrow Award for health economics research given by the International Health Economics Association.

Malin appointed to CDC’s Board of Scientific Counselors

Bradley Malin, PhD, professor of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Computer Science, has been appointed to the Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through 2024.
