Nursing professor’s video wins advertising’s ADDY awards, heads to nationals

A video created to recruit families for a research study run by Terrah Akard, associate professor of nursing and pediatrics, has advanced to the national American Advertising Awards competition.

School of Medicine’s Patel receives Presidential Early Career Award

Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Sachin Patel, associate professor of Psychiatry and of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, is one of 106 researchers named today by President Obama as a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

Gore named fellow of National Academy of Inventors

John Gore, director of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science, has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. Fellowship is granted to “academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on society.”
