Honoring Dr. King’s Communal Legacy

A special celebration was held in Light Hall last week to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hosted by Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion in collaboration with VUMC Employee Resource Groups, “Celebrating Beloved Community” focused on Dr. King’s communal legacy, his vision of beloved community, and the ways we continue to embody that legacy in the work we do here at Vanderbilt.

Shana Alford named director of Evaluation and Equity

Public health researcher Shana Alford has joined VUMC as director of Evaluation and Equity.
This position, which spans the Office of Health Equity and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, was created as part of VUMC’s Racial Equity Plan.

Unconscious bias training for managers launched

Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion has formally launched training for managers to support the Medical Center’s strategic direction to “Make Diversity and Inclusion Intentional.” The first training for this initiative is Unconscious Bias for Healthcare Professionals.
