Honoring Dr. King’s Communal Legacy

A special celebration was held in Light Hall last week to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hosted by Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion in collaboration with VUMC Employee Resource Groups, “Celebrating Beloved Community” focused on Dr. King’s communal legacy, his vision of beloved community, and the ways we continue to embody that legacy in the work we do here at Vanderbilt.

Shana Alford named director of Evaluation and Equity

Public health researcher Shana Alford has joined VUMC as director of Evaluation and Equity.
This position, which spans the Office of Health Equity and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, was created as part of VUMC’s Racial Equity Plan.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Climate Survey opens to the VUMC Community Sept. 13, and is the latest step toward cultivating an inclusive, respectful VUMC environment.

MLK lecture celebrates diversity, inclusion, equity

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture was held on Monday and for the third year commenced with the United Voices of Vanderbilt choir’s stirring medley of inspirational songs.

Second annual Hidden VUMC Figures event set for Oct. 29
