The Vanderbilt Center for Quantitative Sciences hosts its 4th annual Summer Institute Aug. 7–18, 2017, and requests feedback regarding this year's course offerings.

Douglas R. Lowy, acting director of the National Cancer Institute, will deliver the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center George Daniel Brooks Lecture at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in Light Hall, Room 208. The title of the presentation is “Preventing HPV-associated Cancers: Short-term and Long-term Approaches.”

Vanderbilt researchers are seeking participants for a study of how children and adults listen in the presence of background noise. Specifically, the researchers want to learn why children have a harder time listening in noisy environments than adults.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016 Research Staff Awards and the 2017 School of Medicine Faculty Awards.

The study aims to promote children’s healthy adjustment by teaching families about stress, providing parenting information that may reduce feelings of depression, and teaching children coping skills.

Health & Wellness services—the Occupational Health Clinic, Work/Life Connections–EAP, and Health Plus—will be open over the holidays for Vanderbilt faculty and staff during adjusted hours of operation.

All are invited to join the pastoral care department of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt for a Christmas Eve service of music, carols and scripture Dec. 24.
