Gamazon receives NIH Genomic Innovator Award

VUMC’s Eric Gamazon is one of only six investigators to receive an inaugural Genomic Innovator Award from the National Human Genome Research Institute, part of the NIH.

The money is still rolling in, but it appears that the Greater Nashville Heart Walk will raise close to $2 million in its fight against heart disease and stroke as well as provide funding for public and professional education and community service programs. The walk, held Sept. 14 on Vanderbilt’s campus, saw teams from VUMC (shown above) join more than 10,000 walkers from more than 140 companies. With $70,000 counted, Vanderbilt University Medical Center teams are near the projected fundraising goal of $75,000. Donations are still being accepted at NashvilleHeartWalk.org.
