Vanderbilt Women in Surgery, a local chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons, met recently and welcomed guest speaker Sherry Wren, MD, vice chair of Surgery at the Stanford School of Medicine, director of Global Surgery at the Center for Innovation and Global Health.

The Section of Surgical Sciences recently hosted an inaugural Vanderbilt Women in Surgery event that featured a panel discussion with three prominent female Nashville surgeons: Bonnie Miller, M.D., Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education and Executive Vice President for Educational Affairs; Gretchen Jackson, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Pediatric Surgery; and Jeanne Ballinger, M.D., general surgeon with Saint Thomas Health.
