Alan Cherrington, chair of the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, gives a helping hand to his daughter, Andrea, who graduates today from the School of Medicine. Looking on is Michael Mugavero, Andrea's fellow graduating VUSM student as well as her husband-to-be. Following graduation, the pair is headed to the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham for residencies. The School of Medicine diploma-awarding ceremony is at 11 a.m. at the Stadium Club.
