Donna Forsythe, director of administration and finance with Strategy and Transformation (an arm of the Informatics Center), was presented with the Five Pillar Leader Award, which recognizes superior performance across the Medical Center's five management pillars — service, quality, finance, people and innovation.

“She cares deeply about the satisfaction of all of the staff within the Informatics Center,” is how a nominating letter introduced Forsythe.

“Humble, yet holds us all to a higher standard … strives to balance the needs of the team with what is right for Vanderbilt as a whole … truly cares about her team, and it is evident in her commitment to our development.”

Credo awards were presented to: Janice Overall, L.P.N., a nurse at the Outpatient Center at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt; Kathleen Mandato, a manager with Vanderbilt Medical Group Organization Development and Training; and Alisa Escue, administrative officer, Diabetes Center.

A nominating letter stated about Overall, “Colleagues seek her advice and counsel; we observe her because the skills that she displays in engaging youth and families cannot be found in textbooks.”

A letter said of Mandato, “She sets others up for success.”

About Escue, a letter stated, “It is her style and demeanor with those she serves that sets her above and apart from other administrators I have known. She shows her regard for her colleagues every day as she helps us do our work.”

The nominating letters (sent to the Credo committee by colleagues) featured vignettes illustrating the dedication that these award winners bring to their work.

Recipients of the Credo Award and Five Pillar Leader Award are named every three months. Nomination forms and a list of award criteria are available on the elevate website (www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/elevate) and from the Vanderbilt Valet desk in Medical Center North.

Repeat nominations are welcome.
