More than 4,000 walkers participated in the 2002 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sept. 21 at Centennial Park, raising more than $609,000.
Dr. Steven Gabbe, Dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, was the 2002 Chair of the JDRF Walk. Gabbe was diagnosed with Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes more than 30 years ago. VUMC had 600 walkers participating in the walk.
