Students in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) relax during a break at last week's annual retreat at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. The retreat marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of a dual-degree (M.D./Ph.D.) program at Vanderbilt. The MSTP, directed by Terence Dermody, M.D., is designed to foster the development of careers in academic medicine. Ten new students joined the program this year, bringing the total enrolled to 85.
