Emergency medicine research lands award
Tyler Barrett, M.D., assistant professor of Emergency Medicine, has received the 2009 Emergency Medicine Foundation Young Investigator award.
His work, “A Clinical Prediction Model to Estimate Risk for Thirty Day Adverse Events in ED Patients with Symptomatic Atrial Fibrillation,” will be honored at the 2010 Research Forum in Las Vegas in October.

Barrett, who received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2001 and will complete the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation program this spring, has lectured internationally on trauma management.
His research interests include atrial fibrillation, trauma resuscitation, measuring the efficacy of common emergency department therapies, and non-invasive monitoring. His work was supported by the Vanderbilt Physician Scientist Development Program.
The Emergency Medicine Foundation’s Young Investigator award recognizes an outstanding new researcher each year.
