Holt honored by orthopaedics group
The American Orthopaedic Association has named Ginger Holt, M.D., associate professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, a 2011 ABC Traveling Fellow.
The ABC (American, British, Canadian) Traveling Fellowship is an educational exchange initially conceived in 1948 to allow British orthopaedic surgeons to visit centers in North America during a time of post-World War II upheaval.
Today it is among the most respected traveling fellowship in orthopaedics.
It identifies future leaders of the specialty and acts as a catalyst to accelerate their careers.
Seven North American fellows are selected in odd-numbered years to travel for five weeks touring orthopaedic centers in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
During even-numbered years, overseas fellows visit North America.
“I am thrilled to represent our department through this global experience,” Holt said. “It represents an opportunity to share research and build strong international collaborations in both an academic and clinical capacity.”
Holt is tentatively scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand in April and May 2011.
