Light the Night happens Oct. 7
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) is gearing up for Light the Night, a fund-raising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Thursday, Oct. 7, at LP Field.
Vanderbilt University will field a team for the visually exciting event which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's activities to fund medical research, support government advocacy and patient assistance programs, advance medical education and provide important public education.
Check-in for the 1.75-mile walk begins at 6 p.m. and the opening ceremony kicks off at 7 p.m. Activities take place at sunset, with participants carrying lighted balloons that look like colorful accessories against the night sky.
Leaders for this year's Vanderbilt team are Madan Jagasia, M.D., director of the Outpatient Stem Cell Transplant Program, and Beth Price, MBA, chief executive officer for VICC.
VICC is also sponsoring the mission tent at Light the Night festivities in Nashville and Knoxville. In Knoxville, VICC is partnering with a clinical trials affiliate, Tennessee Cancer Specialists, on a team for the walk on the University of Tennessee campus.
