The Meharry-Vanderbilt Student Alliance, a newly formed group of students who help promote and take part in the Alliance partnership, will sponsor its first lecture — “Unsung Heroines: Women in Science.”
The lecture is a highlight of the contributions women have made in science as well as a discussion on what the future holds for females in science. It will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Room 208 Light Hall. A panel discussion is also planned.
Speakers will include Dr. Valerie Montgomery-Rice, professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of Women’s Health at Meharry; Dr. Connie Graves, associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and assistant dean of Diversity in Medical Education at Vanderbilt; Maria Fatima-Lima, Ph.D., dean of Graduate Education and acting vice president for Sponsored Research at Meharry; Dr. Pamela Williams, vice dean, Student/Academic Affairs, chair of the Department of Medical Education at Meharry and Dr. Bonnie Miller, associate dean of medical students, assistant professor of Medical Administration and associate clinical professor of Surgery at Vanderbilt.
A reception will follow the event in the Preston Research Building Breezeway.
