Nominations are now being accepted for Vanderbilt’s Commodore Award, presented to two full-time staff members to recognize and reward one-time achievements and contributions of a significant nature by individual staff members, and to honor select individuals who have made exceptional performance contributions to Vanderbilt University.
The purpose of the Commodore Award is to recognize and reward significant staff achievements in Vanderbilt University’s pursuit of excellence in education, health care, research and community service.
The nomination process occurs annually. The nomination forms are distributed to all deans, directors, department heads and supervisors. Nominations can be received from Vanderbilt staff, faculty or students. Staff may not nominate themselves. Please mail nominations to: 2003 Commodore Award, VU Station B #357700. The deadline to submit nominations is June 30.
Any person who has held a regular full-time staff position below the level of director or department head for at least three years, and who is described by one or more of the following is eligible:
• An individual whose overall performance accomplishments regularly and consistently far exceed performance expectations, reflecting a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness, compassion and applied skill.
• An individual who has handled a high impact or critical situation, which had important consequences for Vanderbilt or the community.
• An individual who developed new or improved existing processes that resulted in a significant improvement in productivity and/or cost savings.
There will be two awards presented during halftime at the Vanderbilt/UT-Chattanooga football game (Tailgate 2003) on Saturday, Sept. 6. Each recipient receives a cash award and an engraved crystal bowl.
