Obesity focus of next episode of NPT series
Nashville Public Television's latest episode in the series on children's health paints a harsh picture of the obesity epidemic.
“Obesity” is the third episode in the seven-part series “NPT Reports: Children's Health Crisis,” and the installment hits on the state's obesity problem, the causes and possible solutions. It airs on NPT-Channel 8 Thursday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m., and will be available online the next day at wnpt.org/childrenshealth.
Viewers will be able to call into the station to ask questions, which will be addressed in an on-air session immediately after the show.
Much of the episode is filmed at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, and includes interviews with patients and doctors.
“By shining the light on the complex issue of childhood obesity in Tennessee, this episode allows us to better understand both the problem and the potential solutions of this serious epidemic,” said Shari Barkin, M.D., director of Pediatric Obesity Research, Diabetes Research and Training Center.
