Dr. James O’Neill Jr., John Clinton Foshee Distinguished Chair in Surgery, was recently awarded an honorary fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada by the Pediatric Surgery Section. O’Neill was honored for his contributions to the field of children’s surgery.
O’Neill became Director of the Section of Surgical Sciences and Chairman of the Department of Surgery in January 1995. O’Neill came to Vanderbilt from Philadelphia where he was Surgeon-in-Chief at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the first person to serve as the C. E. Koop Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
