A bronze statue of Dr. Seuss' iconic “Cat in the Hat” was unveiled at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt recently. The statue was a gift from the family and friends of the late Monroe Carell Jr., the hospital's namesake. The unveiling took place on what would have been Carell's 78th birthday. Family members on hand included, from left, granddaughter Claire Stadler, daughter Kathryn Brown, Ann Carell, wife of the late Monroe Carell Jr., daughter Julie Stadler and daughter Edie Johnson.
