Friends and colleagues of the late William (Bill) Riordan Jr., M.D., gathered May 1 to honor his service to Vanderbilt. A plaque was hung in the Emergency Department in memory of Riordan, assistant professor of Surgery, chief of Emergency General Surgery and a member of the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care, who died September 9, 2011.
Rick Miller, M.D., above, chief of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care, said, “Bill was the epitome of what we all strive for. He strived for perfection, his patients loved him and we all loved him. It’s appropriate to have this plaque right here as a reminder that we are all a team.”
