Pinson named among top CEOs in health care
C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Non-Profit Hospital, Health System CEOs to Know.”
The list features some of the top leaders in the non-profit health care sector, according to Becker’s.
“The presidents and CEOs on this list have shown strong leadership skills through the performance of their facilities, their involvement in organizations such as the American Hospital Association and their commitment to the community,” according to a press release issued by Becker’s.
“All on the list are dedicated to making their respective organizations achieve top performance and overcome challenges in the health care industry through innovation and commitment to quality.”
Pinson, who started Vanderbilt’s liver transplant program and liver surgery division in 1990, has served in various clinical roles while at Vanderbilt, including director of the Transplant Center, vice-chair and chair of Surgery.
Since 1997 he has devoted time to administration of various facets of VUMC, including serving as chairman of the Medical Board, chief of staff of Vanderbilt University Hospital, associate vice chancellor for Clinical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer.
