Joey V. Barnett, Ph.D. was recently selected president-elect of the Davidson County American Heart Association.
Barnett received his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Southern Indiana and spent a year as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Argonne National Laboratories and the University of Chicago. He came to Vanderbilt University as a graduate student and earned his Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology in 1986.
Barnett, the recipient of an Individual National Research Service Award, completed postdoctoral training and served as an instructor in Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1992 as assistant professor of Medicine and Pharmacology.
