Derek E. Moore, M.D., resident in general surgery, was recently honored by the American College of Surgeons.
Moore received one of 10 American College of Surgeons Forum on Fundamental Surgical Problems Resident/Fellow Excellence in Research Awards for 2004.
The program recognizes excellence in research performed by surgical residents and fellows. Abstracts were submitted by residents and fellows, 10 of which were later selected for the award based on originality of concept, quality of methodology and impact of the science.
Moore’s abstract is titled “Use of Donors Over 60 Years Old in Liver Transplantation: A Decision and Cost-effectiveness Analysis.”
The award will be presented Oct. 12 at the annual meeting of the American College of Surgeons. After residency, Moore plans to complete a fellowship in abdominal organ transplantation.
