Dean Steven Gabbe, M.D., outlines the accomplishments of Vanderbilt School of Medicine over the past year at the State of the Medical School address this week. Gabbe's speech touched on a number of highlights, including key new faculty and administrators, a jump in National Institutes of Health funding, the new anatomy lab, the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment, the ongoing curriculum revision and the new pass/fail grading system. Gabbe also spoke about the move to competency-based medical education and praised the medical students for their many volunteer activities.
