Stroke Center recertified by JCAHO
The Vanderbilt Stroke Center has been recertified a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), a national distinction indicating the highest level of care available for acute stroke.
The Stroke Center also received the Joint Commission's Certificate of Distinction, awarded to Primary Stroke Centers that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care.
“We have the mechanisms in place that will help identify and appropriately treat patients with acute stroke, and we stay up to date with the latest technology and imaging techniques,” said Jackie Moreland, R.N., B.S.N., stroke coordinator.
Primary Stroke Centers are assessed on eight quality measures and 168 standards. The Vanderbilt Stroke Center has received certification every year since 2005.
