Students ready to dance night away
The Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon, entering its 10th year, has raised more than $1 million, and student organizers show no signs of slowing down.
The annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals event, led by VU students, raises money for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
The marathon is set to begin at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, at the VU Student Recreation Center, and will finish at 8 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18.
Marathoners will spend 13.1 hours dancing, eating and having fun while also raising awareness about the families cared for by Children's Hospital. Participants will hear stories from patients’ families who benefit from the fundraising.
Dance Marathon is both the largest philanthropic and the largest student organization on campus. The previous nine marathons raised more $1 million, passing the fundraising milestone last year.
