VUSM upgrades Continuing Medical Education Web site

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine's Division of Continuing Medical Education has revamped its Web site to help faculty and staff stay compliant.

In addition to an electronic calendar of courses and access to CME credit, the updated site includes a thorough list of policies and procedures as well as administrative guidelines for everything from standards for receiving commercial support to the new, more comprehensive conflict of interest policy at Vanderbilt.

“The goal was ease of access and standardization,” said Nanette Bahlinger, assistant director for Educational Planning Services.

“We can update the information online on a regular basis, primarily in response to suggestions from those who use the site, but also in response to changes in policy. The goal is for 100 percent of CME activities to be 100 percent compliant.”

The site now includes a schedule with contact information for regularly scheduled series, like grand rounds, as well as training manuals, forms and checklists to help Vanderbilt faculty and staff stay current on rapidly changing compliance requirements.
