VUSN’s Weiner named distinguished alumna
Weiner was recognized as a pioneer in multimedia development, including her work developing distance-learning programs for VUSN and for serving as principal investigator on $3 million worth of HRSA grants for faculty development in conjunction with the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.
She joined Vanderbilt in 2000 after 21 years at the University of Cincinnati, including 10 as director of a university-wide faculty technology center and four as director of university academic computing. She was selected as a research fellow in the IBM Institute for Academic Technology.
Her informatics-based project focused on labor and delivery simulation, has been used continuously for more than 20 years and is the most widely distributed product for the IBM Healthcare Consortium.
Weiner earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Ph.D. degrees from UK.
Every five years, the UK Alumni Association recognizes a select group to join its Hall of Distinguished Alumni. Weiner, along with 19 others, was inducted during a special reception/dinner recently in Lexington, Ky.
