Karen Keady, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, stepped into her new role as VUMC System Chief Nursing Officer on July 1. In this interview, she covered several key topics, including her leadership style and vision, technology and innovation, work-life balance, shadowing, and cultivating a welcoming environment.

The program will help Externs acquire valuable skills, gain self-confidence, and increase clinical competency under the supervision of experienced nurse preceptors.

The conference, which took place June 18-20 in Nairobi, Kenya, brought together non-physician anesthesia providers from 18 different countries in Africa for continued education and networking. The purpose was to reduce maternal mortality by improving safe access to anesthesia for pregnant women across Africa.

In recognition of the importance and partnership of advanced practice practitioners (APPs) with nurses and physicians in delivering patient care, Vanderbilt University Hospital has added APP directors to the VUH segment leadership teams

VUMC Nursing is crafting a comprehensive program that addresses four significant nursing issues. The Boys & Girls Clubs started Code Academy to increase youth interest in tech/digital careers and to help facilitate a platform to elevate youth voices.
