CMA pledges $3 million to boost Children’s expansion

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is receiving significant philanthropic support through a $3 million gift from the Country Music Association (CMA), Vanderbilt University Medical Center leaders, event host Kix Brooks and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum announced this week.

Komen, VICC partnership bolsters breast cancer research

For more than twenty years, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s (VICC) primary source of outside funding has been provided by the National Institutes of Health. But in breast cancer, Susan G. Komen, a nonprofit dedicated to breast cancer research and community services, has been a significant sponsor of research and patient care support.

Governing board for Vanderbilt University Medical Center named

The Vanderbilt University Board of Trust has elected the members of the governing board for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. This independent board will immediately begin planning for VUMC to operate as a separate entity and will govern the Medical Center once its financial and administrative transition from the university is complete.

The Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR) is partnering with a public charity, Cures Within Reach, to encourage “rediscovery research,” the “repurposing” of already approved medical treatments to other conditions or diseases for which there are no “universally” effective therapies.
