Predators support for fight against cancer keeps rising

Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber and goaltender Pekka Rinne, along with Predators leaders and mascot Gnash, recently presented the proceeds of the team’s 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Governing board for Vanderbilt University Medical Center named

The Vanderbilt University Board of Trust has elected the members of the governing board for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. This independent board will immediately begin planning for VUMC to operate as a separate entity and will govern the Medical Center once its financial and administrative transition from the university is complete.

Initiative seeks to bolster ‘rediscovery research’

The Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR) is partnering with a public charity, Cures Within Reach, to encourage “rediscovery research,” the “repurposing” of already approved medical treatments to other conditions or diseases for which there are no “universally” effective therapies.

Dill named VUMC entertainment industry liaison

Stuart Dill, a 30-year veteran as an artist manager on Nashville’s Music Row, has been named Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s liaison with the entertainment industry, effective Aug. 4.
