Portion of Pierce Avenue to be closed March 17

Medical Center Drive (Vanderbilt University)

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 17, Pierce Avenue will be closed from Medical Center Drive to 23rd Avenue South.

This street closure is necessary for the removal of a materials hoist at the 33-bed addition to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt currently under construction. During the closure, ambulances will access the Children’s Emergency drop-off from either 23rd Avenue South and Children’s Way, or 24th Avenue South to Pierce Avenue eastbound.

The Children’s Hospital main entrance, street-level crosswalks and entrances to medical center clinics at 23rd Avenue South and Pierce Avenue will remain open during this time. The second-floor sky bridge and walkways will be closed during the hoist removal. Police officers and flagmen will be present to assist in directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
