Inspired by William Spickard, right, Peabody alumna Andrea McDermott Sanders, M.Ed., third from right, founded “Team William” in 2005 to support scholarships for children with Down syndrome to the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Reading Clinic.
Sanders annually participates in Nashville’s Country Music Marathon to raise funds for the William Hart Spickard Andrea Blake McDermott Team William Endowment, with nearly $200,000 raised to date. William Spickard is the son of Margaret and W. Anderson Spickard III, M.D., associate professor of Medicine, pictured, and the grandson of W. Anderson Spickard Jr., M.D., professor of Medicine, Emeritus.
