New scholarships at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing available for pediatric nursing students

Students interested in pursuing a degree in nursing from Vanderbilt, but who are concerned about financial obstacles, could get a big boost thanks to a grant from the Christy-Houston Foundation.

Students interested in pursuing a degree in nursing from Vanderbilt, but who are concerned about financial obstacles, could get a big boost thanks to a grant from the Christy-Houston Foundation.

The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing has been awarded a $175,000 grant from the Foundation to provide five scholarships for $35,000 each to advanced practice nursing students interested in the area of pediatrics. Under the agreement, scholarship recipients must either be a resident of

Rutherford
County

or a graduate of

Middle
Tennessee
State
University

, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. After graduating, scholarship recipients will be asked to work for two years at Vanderbilt Children‘s Hospital.

VUSN offers four programs in the area of pediatrics: the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for Primary Care; Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for Acute Care; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner; and Clinical Management in Pediatrics. Each program is offered in a blocked learning format to accommodate students who live or work at a distance using video streaming and online conferencing, designated campus visits and other tools.
