Eskind Biomedical Library has won the Consortium of Southern Biomedical Libraries Distinguished Library Award.
The consortium grants up to two of these awards per year in recognition of specific library programs. The Eskind award is in recognition of the library’s work with cancer patients and their care teams, taking individual patient differences such as learning “style” and health literacy into account when approaching consumer health topics such as the pharmacogenetics of cancer.
In a letter carrying news of the award, a representative of the award committee commended Eskind’s “established history of developing innovative methods in the areas of bio-communications, informatics, librarianship and health, often leading the Southeastern area.”
The award was presented at the consortium’s 2015 business meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
