Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has been named to the 2017 Becker’s Hospital Review list of the 100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs.
The hospitals recognized by Becker’s lead the nation in cardiovascular care. Many of the centers included have pioneered groundbreaking procedures, continue to engage in research and development and have received top rankings in U.S. News & World Report for heart surgery and cardiology as well as being listed in CareChex rankings.
“I want to congratulate everyone in the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute (VHVI) on being named by Becker’s to this distinguished list. The expertise and innovation, along with compassionate care that is on display each day are what make VHVI’s programs stand apart,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for VUMC.
VHVI’s multi-disciplinary programs in prevention, lipid management, inherited heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, vascular medicine and cardio-oncology are unique in the region and among the busiest nationally.
“Our goal is to innovatively and comprehensively address the cardiovascular disease burden of the populations we serve,” said Walter Clair, M.D., MPH, associate professor of Medicine and executive medical director and chief medical officer of VHVI.
Becker’s Hospital Review, a monthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems, has published a version of the list since 2010.
