Hospitals on the Becker’s Great Oncology Programs list offer patients comprehensive cancer care involving teams of specialists, participation in clinical trials and precision medicine programs.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a monthly publication offering business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. The organization has published a version of the Great Oncology Programs list since 2012 and VUMC and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) have been recognized multiple times.

“We are pleased to be honored once again by Becker’s Hospital Review for the strength of our cancer care program,” said Jennifer Pietenpol, Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Research at VUMC and Director of VICC. “This annual recognition program is a testament to the high quality and compassionate care that our clinicians and staff provide to VICC patients, our prominent research programs and leading-edge therapy options.”

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on recognitions received and accreditations earned. The Becker’s team examined U.S. News & World Report cancer care rankings, CareChex cancer care rankings, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Blue Distinction Center designation and designations from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) while compiling this list.

VICC is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only such center in Tennessee providing care for both adult and pediatric patients.

VUMC was recently named one of the nation’s best providers of specialty care by U.S. News and World Report, and has also been named the No. 1 hospital in Tennessee and the Metro Nashville area. In the 2016-17 edition of “America’s Best Hospitals,” VUMC had 12 out of a possible 16 specialties either nationally ranked or designated as nationally high performing, including cancer care.
