Following a national leadership search, Srijaya Reddy, MD, MBA, has been named chief of the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Reddy, having joined VUMC in 2018 as associate professor of Anesthesiology, has been serving as interim chief of the division since October 2020. The division includes 24 faculty members.
The appointment was announced July 13 in a departmental message from Warren Sandberg, MD, PhD, chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Chief of Staff of Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital.
“Dr. Reddy has done an incredible job of providing leadership as interim chief, leading the division with steady grace throughout these trying times,” Sandberg said.
“During her interim tenure, mentorship has flourished, and as numerous leadership opportunities have opened, recruitment has been strong. Moreover, she is highly regarded by our surgeons and hospital leadership as an engaged, calm and capable clinician-expert. Please join me in welcoming Sri into this permanent position.”
Reddy holds a BA in Sociology from Emory University in Atlanta, an MD from the Medical University of the Americas, in Nevis, West Indies, and an MBA from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Following residency training in anesthesiology at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Reddy completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology in 2010 at Children’s National Hospital and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, staying on there as assistant professor from 2010 to 2017.
Reddy is active at the national level in her field’s medical and education societies and as an editorial reviewer for journals, and she has extensive experience as a faculty mentor and research adviser.
“I am honored and excited to help lead such a robust and talented division within the Department of Anesthesiology and at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt,” Reddy said.
