The 20th Annual Levi Watkins Jr., MD Lecture is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at noon.
The keynote speaker will be George C. Hill, PhD, professor of Medical Education and Administration and professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, emeritus, at Vanderbilt University. More information will follow closer to the scheduled lecture.
In addition, nominations are now being sought for the annual Levi Watkins Jr. Faculty Award and Levi Watkins Jr. Student Award, and Levi Watkins Jr. House Staff Award.
The Faculty Award is presented annually to at least one member of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) faculty or administration who has made outstanding contributions to the institution and community in fostering opportunities for underrepresented minorities in educational, training and research programs.
The Student Award is presented annually to at least one graduate student and one medical student associated with VUSM who have made outstanding contributions to the institution and community in fostering a more diverse environment that is enriching, encouraging and embracing of all Vanderbilt medical school students, faculty, staff and administrators.
The House Staff Award is presented annually to at least one of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center house staff who has made an outstanding contribution to the institution and community in fostering opportunities for underrepresented minorities in VUMC’s educational, training and research programs.
