Mattie Ann Harwell and David Bichell, MD, MMHC, prepare to present trophies at the 2022 Iroquois Steeplechase on Saturday, May 14. Harwell was named patient ambassador for this year’s race and Bichell was named honorary co-chair for the 2020 race, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bichell stood in for this year’s honorary co-chair, Kathryn Edwards, MD, who was speaking at an international conference on race day. Since designating Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as its official charity in 1981, the Steeplechase has raised nearly $11 million for the hospital.
